GPC (General Poultry Company) has been awarded two major recognitions by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions during the Labour Day 2026 celebrations, receiving awards for both “Best Management Team” and “Best Trade Union.”

The recognition is considered especially significant given the traditionally complex relationship that can exist between management and trade unions across industries. At GPC, both parties have continued to work in alignment towards a shared national objective: supporting Bahrain’s food security through the production of quality, nutritious eggs for the local market.

In addition to the organizational awards, two employees were individually honored in recognition of their outstanding contribution and performance during 2026. Ms. Amna Abdel Wahab from the Packing Department and Mr. Yasser Al-Demistani from the Maintenance Department were recognized for their dedication and service.

GPC also highlighted its continued investment in employee development through ongoing training and skills enhancement programs across departments, ensuring that its workforce remains equipped with the latest operational knowledge and industry practices required to meet future challenges.

General Poultry Company (GPC or “General Poultry”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, has signed a 15-year Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Kanoo CleanMax Renewables Asset Co. W.L.L (“Kanoo CleanMax” or “Kanoo CleanMax Renewables”) to install a 1.5 MWp rooftop Solar PV Powerplant Project across its Hamala farms and production facilities. The project will generate approximately 2,400 MWh of clean energy annually, supplying up to 90 percent of GPC’s daytime power requirements and offsetting more than 1,100 metric tons of CO₂ emissions every year.

The signing ceremony, held at GPC’s premises, brought together senior representatives from both organizations, marking a significant collaboration between two industry leaders committed to environmental responsibility and operational excellence.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. Sami Zainal, Chairman, GPC said,” “This initiative aligns perfectly with GPC’s long-term vision of embedding sustainability into our core business operations. It is a defining moment in our Sustainability journey and demonstrates our responsibility to Bahrain’s people, economy, and environment, while setting a benchmark for sustainable agribusiness in the Kingdom.”

By integrating solar energy into its operations, GPC is advancing its pledge to reduce CO₂ emissions and move towards adoption of clean energy solutions. The 1.5 MWp solar PV Powerplant project will span six rooftops, utilizing high-efficiency modules and string inverters aiming to ensure maximum energy generation and seamless integration with GPC’s existing power infrastructure. The project also includes solar-powered EV charging stations, supporting GPC’s transition to cleaner logistics and transport. The system has been designed with visual balance and site harmony in mind.

The current installation covers GPC’s birdhouse rooftops, with provisions for expansion to additional areas in the second phase. Solar-powered chargers will be installed at the facility to support the shift toward electric mobility, ensuring long-term efficiency and resilience.

Alia Autism Center proudly announces the grand opening of Halla by Alia, Bahrain’s first café and bakery entirely operated by young adults with autism. Halla by Alia is more than just a café; it is a platform designed to empower individuals with autism by providing a hands-on training environment to develop professional and life skills. This initiative aligns with the mission of Alia Autism Center to offer high-quality vocational training programs through its Rehabilitation Center. The General Poultry Company organized its annual party on December 11, 2024 at the Gulf Hotel, in the Dana Hall, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Sami Zainal, a number of Board members, the CEO, and the company’s employees. The aim of the party was to review the company’s achievements during 2024 and set goals for the coming year. The party also included a set of team building activities, and a raffle was held for in-kind and cash prizes for the attendees, amidst a joyful atmosphere.

We’re proud to announce that GPC (General Poultry Company) has been awarded the “Best Flock Performance Award” in the GCC for the second consecutive year by Arab Poultry Breeders – Ommat KSA. This recognition celebrates our exceptional layer bird management, outperforming 70 other leading LSL Classic customers across the region.

Our flocks have achieved an incredible 333 eggs per bird, surpassing the industry standard of 329 eggs per bird, reaffirming our commitment to special poultry care and delivering high-quality eggs that promote food security in Bahrain.

This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our team and our vision to lead the industry in excellence.

In alignment with the General Poultry Company’s commitment to employee well-being, the Human Resources Department hosted an awareness event focused on breast cancer on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event featured an informative lecture delivered by Dr. Sumaya Hussein Ali from Al-Amal Hospital, who emphasized the significance of early detection of breast cancer, along with discussing its symptoms and associated risk factors. Following the lecture, employees were given the chance to undergo general health check-ups to assess their well-being.
